Discovering Ancestry by DNA

Those who read a Draft version of Rogues in Paradise, loved the characters. However, all wanted to know more. How did they get to Barbados? Where did they come from? and what were their African names? This was not easily available. Many of the book's characters, wanted to know more about their African heritage. It seemed that DNA might help fill in the gaps.

Although DNA can help in tracing ones roots, it is essential to keep in mind that close loved ones might not all share the exact same hereditary suits. They might not always share the same DNA, and in that situation, will not constantly have exact genetic matches. In order for you to share DNA with a relative, you have to both inherit the very same DNA from forefathers. But, as  immediate ancestors pass down just 50% of the DNA and this declines with each generation, it gets a little bit confusing.
